The 108th Military Equal Opportunity office has new updates to share.

First, there is a new military grievance system. Some key features include the creation of the National Guard Bureau Equal Opportunity Complaints Management and Adjudication Team (NGB-EO-CMA) that oversees both the formal and informal resolution requests. Additionally, in an effort to get away from the word “complaint,” the term “resolution request” will now be used.

At the Informal Resolution Request (IRR) stage, individual units have 180 days to handle the situation at the local level. The complaint will then be handled by the NGB-EO-CMA for the Formal Resolution Request (FRR) stage.

The new process includes the ability for both local units and members to request a hearing for any disagreements on decisions made by the NGB-EO-CMA.

Next, the new Defense Equal Opportunity Climate Survey (DEOCS) will be distributed to various units. (Give a brief snippet of what the climate survey is used for.) Questions will be reduced in order to prevent survey fatigue and to get more respondents.

Finally, the “Out and About” cycle is restarting. Capt. Jose Rodriguez and Tech. Sgt. Luis Mendoza from the MEO office will be around to ask members about MEO related issues and general workplace atmosphere. This gives 108th Wing members an opportunity to have their voice heard. With certain exceptions, all responses will remain confidential and be presented to unit commanders in a follow up meeting.
