Col. John M. Cosgrove assumed command of the 108th Wing during a change of command ceremony at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., on Nov. 4, 2018.

Cosgrove accepted responsibility as the commander in front of the Airmen of the 108th Wing, distinguished guests, friends, and family.

During the ceremony, Cosgrove emphasized the need for a positive attitude and truly valuing the members of your team.

"Have a smile on your face and be nice to people." said Cosgrove. "Every single person has value."

Cosgrove joined the New Jersey Air National Guard in 2006 as a civil engineer at the 177th Fighter Wing.  In 2010, he became the director of operations for the 227th Air Support Operations Squadron before becoming the commander of the 177th Maintenance Group. Prior to his current position as the 108th Wing commander, the colonel was the 177th Fighter Wing vice wing commander.

The 108th Wing provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps aircraft as well as aircraft of allied nations. In addition to our primary air refueling mission, the wing supports an intelligence squadron and a cyber operations squadron.
