More than 80 New Jersey Air National Guardsmen departed this earlier this week for the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility to provide expeditionary support for Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield until spring 2021.

“I am extremely proud of our deployers and the support team that enabled a successful departure," said Col. John Cosgrove, 108th Wing commander. "This mobilization was short notice and couldn’t have come at a more difficult time; amongst a pandemic and during the holiday season.”

The Airmen are comprised of a cross section of specialties from the 108th Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., along with several members from the Ohio Air National Guard’s 121st Air Refueling Wing and the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 128th Air Refueling Wing. The deployed Airmen join the ranks of Guardsmen who have supported more than 1.1 million overseas deployments since 9/11.
