4th quarter safety award for fiscal year 2009
Aug. 14, 2009...members of the 108th Maintenance Group skillfully executed the tow of the now retired KC-135E, 59-1497, to its final parking location as a static display at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ. Under the overall guidance of Master Sgt. Dan Kimble, the team expertly planned the path and movement of this aircraft with minimal issues and zero safety incidents during the two-hour move. In fact, the task was so well planned that the entire operation took two hours less than originally expected. The efforts of Kimble and all individuals involved were recognized. They were involved in moving the 120,000 lb. aerospace vehicle across 1.5 miles of hazardous terrain without any incident or compromising safety. This undertaking epitomizes strategic risk management, planning and assessment, and serves as an example for others to emulate. Kudos to a job well done!
