108th Wing gets BOSS
Boom operator Master Sgt. Jennifer Bowen, 108th Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard, operates the KC-135R Boom Operator Simulator System at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Feb. 26, 2015. The simulator, which has all the boom pod controls and gauges, supports the boom operator training curriculum, including initial and difference qualification, certification, requalification, mission certification and instructor upgrade training. Each mission is recorded and can be replayed for post session debriefing. Boom operators are aerial refueling specialists who conduct the offloading of fuel to U.S. Air Force and partner aircraft.
